The son of former Governor and onetime Presidential candidate Cuomo has stated he will not challenge the wife of former President Clinton if she runs for the Democratic candidacy for President in 2016.

Thank heavens we’re not one of those backward countries ruled by a bunch of inbred aristocrats, huh?

Haulin’ Colin

I got this link from a discussion on another web site — this guy makes custom trailers for hauling large loads with a bicycle, along with other neat bikey stuff.

Linwood Lanes

Monday, April 15th, 2013

I went out for a short ride yesterday afternoon — took the river path into downtown, then looped around to Franklin Street and north to Linwood.

They re-striped Linwood last fall, and this was my first time seeing it. It used to be a one-way street with two lanes of automobile traffic, heading north from North Street to Delavan. Now, it’s still one-way automobile traffic, but they cut that down to one lane and added bike lanes in both directions. Essentially, it’s a north-south bicycle “highway” from North Buffalo into downtown. Pretty cool.

Shirt Design Contest 2013

Friday, April 12th, 2013

It’s that time again — time to get out your Sharpies, your generic Chinese drawing tablets, and your pirated copy of Photoshop Elements to put together a shirt design for this year’s ride.

Same rules as last year.

  • Must include either “Super Atomic Pedal Squadron!” or “SAPS!” lettering somewhere in the design. Can’t have a team shirt without a team name.
  • Can be no more than three colors, not including the background. These are going on shirts, and stuff that’s really colorful is also really expensive. The background color is “free” because it’s just the color of the shirt coming through.
  • All entries must be received by May 1. Then I’ll post everything I’ve received and we’ll use the voting booth to pick a winner.

Please send submissions in PNG, SVG, or some other common format. They can be emailed to me at “”. No warranties expressed or implied. Not valid in all fifty states. All right reserved, all wrongs reversed. And so on.

Silo City

This is a cool idea from Sunday’s paper — some rock climbing enthusiasts are turning a section of Buffalo abandoned grain elevators into a climbing site.

Fire and Bikes

Friday, April 5th, 2013

Sure, it’s annoying when people shout at me from cars or sidewalks when I’m out on my bicycle, but at least nobody’s trying to drop Molotov cocktails on my head.

I certainly hope everyone had a fun and relaxing Easter weekend — my kids have enough jelly beans and chocolate to give at least half the neighborhood diabetes.

We did the usual mad dash from Buffalo to Rochester and back to make sure we could see everybody. My aunt’s house in Rochester was fun, with half-a-dozen sugar fueled kids running around. Good thing she got the yard fenced off this year so we could just let them roam a bit.

How about you?
