Man, I don't know if you've noticed, but
Silhouette Guy is always getting the short end of the stick.
Electrocuted, drowned, stuck in powered gates, scratched by a falcon
with "envenom'd talons", dumped in a pit of lime; that poor bastard
just can't win. I'm not gonna lie, though, I do wish they'd put one of
these signs up by the trolley tracks downtown. Silhouette Guy, I salute
your brave and noble sacrifice.
Hopefully, if you're reading this,
you're actually looking for the right Matt Gracie, the one from Buffalo
by way of Rochester, NY. Freakishly tall, possibly on a bicycle? That's
me. Spinning records at a dance club in Toronto? That would be
this guy. See, it's easy
to tell, because I'd rather remove my own spleen with a meat hook than
use the phrase "Sugga Daddy".
Anyway, just to get things out of the
way ahead of time, I know that the only reason I ever bother going to
personal web pages is to see what people look like. So here's some
snaps from the last few years:
- This one is from 1994 or
1995; I don't recall when exactly, but I pulled it off of an archive CD
of about that vintage.
- This one is from the fall
of 1999, when I was on my last extended road trip. Two months of
sleeping in a car have taken their hirsute toll. Good times.
- This one is from 2000, when
I was laid off by the good people of Verizon. Bloody wankers moved all
our jobs up to Canada. James Earl Jones's voice still irks me.
- This one is from a
Halloween party back in 2002. I'm not quite sure why I look like the
devil. I'm just eating pizza in a friend's driveway.
- This one is from
October 2003, at my wedding.
- Finally, this last one is
from my tenth high school reunion in 2005. As you can see, they were
already out of the good beer. Labatt's makes baby Jesus cry.
And that just about does it for pictoral evidence. As you can see, I've
looked about the same for the last ten years, aside from seasonal
changes in the length of my kudzu-like facial hair. After a decade of
trying, I can finally grow a beard! Woo-hoo!
I'm currently employed by the ITS department at Canisius College, a
medium-sized Jesuit college here in Buffalo, NY. My area of personal
and professional interest is Unix systems, and I was hired as the
second caretaker for the Apple systems on the Canisius campus. A couple
of years ago I moved out of desktop support and became Information
Security Administrator; essentially, the network security and defense
goon. I keep the bad guys out of our stuff.
(We now interrupt for a commercial message: I also run a small side
business as a network and security consultant. If you're looking for
someone to audit your network or train your employees, click
here for details.)
I love classic cars, and I've got a 1977
AMC Matador Coupe
that I tinker with once in a while. I'm a year-round cycle commuter,
since I live in the
Parkside
neighborhood in the middle of
Buffalo and I can reach just
about anywhere on my bike. I read a lot, write a bit, and even do some
coding. So far as I can tell, I'm one of the very few computer nerds
who loves American Football (Go
Bills!).
